Premarin

Premarin eases or eliminates the manifestations of menopausal syndrome (fever, sweating, dizziness, irritability, depression), prevents the development of osteoporosis, prevents the involution of the genital organs, normalizes the menstrual cycle in women of childbearing age, reduces testosterone levels in men.

Side effects of Premarin

Headache, nausea, vomiting, weight gain, edema, uterine bleeding, facial skin pigmentation, erythema nodosum, transient increase in plasma levels of transaminases, hyperbilirubinemia; allergic reaction (rash); rarely – hemorrhagic skin rash, endometrial tumors.

Dosage and administration

Inside. For cyclic use – 625 mcg – 1.25 mg per day, alternating taking for 3 weeks with a break of 1 week, with menstrual bleeding, start taking from the 5th day of the menstrual cycle, and from 15 to 21st day, use a progestin drug (with a long absence of menstruation, treatment begins on any given day).

If necessary, on the 5-7th day of treatment, the daily dose may be increased to 3.75 mg, then it is reduced to 1.25 mg. Treatment of malignant tumors – 3.75-7.5 mg.

Contraindications

Breast cancer and estrogen-dependent neoplasms; uterine bleeding of unknown etiology; thrombophlebitis, a violation of the blood coagulation system, thromboembolic diseases; severe diseases of the cardiovascular system; severe impaired liver or kidney function; sickle cell anemia; congenital hearing loss; long immobilization.
